What is Life Skills?
Life Skills is a collaborative effort by The Regeneration Center to provide teaching, training, and a supportive community of grace for individuals experiencing life challenges.
Most classes run between 9:00 AM - 12 noon, Monday through Friday. Some classes may be offered in the evenings. Participants are asked for a financial donation or volunteer time to cover course material expenses. Interested individuals may call 320-759-0826.
Course Content
Alpha Through the Alpha course people explore the Christian faith in a relaxed setting over ten thought-provoking sessions. It is low-key, friendly and fun – and is supported by all the main Christian denominations.
Anger Resolution This class will assist you in facing your anger honestly and find ways to take responsible action when you experience this strong emotion. Tools used within the class include, but are not limited to, concepts from A.A.’s Twelve Steps, self-inventories, and homework assignments.
Encouragement Class This class reveals behavior patterns God sees as significant. These things are clearly taught in the Bible, but because we focus on what our society tells us, they have become less important. When you come face-to-face with these discoveries, you will see yourself as one who makes a difference.
Financial Management You will learn basic budgeting skills as well as maintaining and balancing a checking account.
Freedom from Addiction Addiction forges its own chains of pain and problems that grow with each day and seem impossible to overcome. If you are a captive of addictive behavior this class can help you find freedom.
Love & Respect Communication skills and biblical model for resolving conflict. You will also learn practical skills for affirming one another in your marriage relationship. For couples. (Evening class)
Love, Sex & Relationships Produced by Youth With A Mission (YWAM). A frank, biblical discussion that builds new understanding of a gift, given by God for our fulfillment, but often ruined by the enemy. Learn about God’s logical, loving and freeing precepts for relationships; healthy relationship boundaries; dealing with “How far is too far?” and past sexual sin. (For Singles or those in dating relationships)
Men’s Fraternity A journey that helps men understand their masculine identity and shows them how to make the pursuit of authentic manhood a lifelong priority that is incorporated into the fabric of everyday life. Learn about the Four Faces of Manhood; dealing with The Father Wound and The Mother Wound; Mentoring; Fathering Well; Servant Leadership.
Resume Writing & Interviewing Skills How to create a resume that impresses prospective employers and how to develop confidence and skills in the interview process.
Search for Significance Learn how to see your worth through God's eyes, step off the "performance treadmill," and discover, through insightful self-inventory exercises, how four false beliefs have kept you from the joy of abundant life in Christ.
Secrets of Everyday Leaders We are all called to be leaders, some as parents, in the family, the church and community, as well as in the business world. We will discuss God’s plan for leadership and how you can develop the skills you need to activate His plan for you.
The Bondage Breaker In this series we will look at our position in Christ, and the authority that all believers have over the demonic realm. We will talk about the believer’s protection and the nature of spiritual conflicts. Finally, we will go through steps to freedom in Christ.
The Look of the Leader What makes an effective leader? Five particular traits that have stood the test of time: concern, commitment, courage, consistency, and character. Using the ancient but relevant and timeless story of Nehemiah, The Look of the Leader illustrates effective leadership at its best.
The Truth Project The Truth Project is a DVD-based small group curriculum produced by Focus on the Family. It is taught by Dr. Del Tackett and includes valuable insights from a host of Bible scholars and theologians, including Os Guinness, R.C. Sproul, and Ravi Zacharias. The Truth Project curriculum is designed to build a systematic and comprehensive biblical worldview in the lives of believers. (Offered periodically)
