Teaching Life Skills and providing Vocational Training to ex-offenders just out of jail or prison
Several months ago, a group of Christian businessmen came together to discuss options to help ex-offenders and others just out of prison or jail to find work and lead a productive life. Opportunity Enterprises, LLC was born as a way to respond to this need in our community. In late May of 2014, we rented a building on the Alexandria airport grounds, opened the shop doors and “pushed the start button”.
We now have 6 paid employees and a board of directors made up of area Christian business leaders, including Tory Bjorklund and David Schonberg with The Regeneration Center. The first few months presented the usual challenges of starting a new business, but we’re off and running.
We offer Life Skills and Vocational Training. Classes include work place ethics, communications, anger management, overcoming addiction, financial planning, interviewing and resume writing. Shop training includes welding and machining. We seek to subcontract welding and machining jobs to use as teaching opportunities and to produce income. Any profits will be used to fund other ministries within The Regeneration Center.
You can help by recommending students to us and with financial support until the business becomes profitable. Pray for God’s guidance as we try to sow into the lives of needy men.
