Growth Through Evangelism

Overcrowding in the church in Nuwara Eliya, Sri Lanka

Celebrating Growth

Pastor Sathees Kumar ministers to people in his church and surrounding communities. He is the Senior Pastor of the Assembly of God church in Nuwara Eliya and the Evangelism director for the Assembly of God council in Sri Lanka.

In April 2025, the Nuwara Eliya church hosted a family camp for six new branch churches. Seventy-one believers from Nuwara Eliya and about 170 from the other six churches attended. Many of these attendees are new believers.

Church members trained to evangelize have driven much of this growth. They evangelize those closest to them: friends, family, and neighbors. Their goal for 2025 is to bring 100 new people to Christ.

Church Construction

The church is splitting at the seams due to the evangelistic outreach. They decided to add onto the building and started a major construction project. This expansion is costly.

The church also faces other expenses. Most of the people in this church are very poor and can only contribute small amounts. Please consider sending a donation to help the church during this time of challenges and celebrations. You can use the “Give” button to the right. See the note below for more instructions.

Tory Bjorklund will visit Nuwara Eliya and other areas in Sri Lanka in November. He will provide a report when he returns.

We are excited to see what God is doing in Sri Lanka, especially in rural areas away from the big cities. Please pray for Pastor Sathees Kumar. He works diligently to manage the challenges of this growth and oversees several young churches. We pray that God will continue to move in Sri Lanka. We also pray for His provision and protection for the believers and for all their needs.

Thank you for your prayers and continued support for our ministry in Sri Lanka.
