Believers in Sri Lanka ask for your help

TRC Ministries has just received an update from our partner in Sri Lanka, Pastor Sathees Kumar. As the pandemic continues to ravage the population, Sri Lanka has stopped importing necessary things. There is a shortage of fertilizer, medicine, and even food, to name a few.

Churches have been closed for more than three months, and only recently were allowed to hold a service on August 15th. However, Sri Lankan president Gotabhaya Rajapaksa ordered yet another lockdown that will shut the country down until September 6th. Sathees is uncertain of when the church will be able to hold services again.

Covid-19 and its variants have taken a toll on the population of Sri Lanka, but also on the country’s economy, whose reliance on the tourism industry has spelled an economic crisis. Along with the rest of the country, Sathees’ church is struggling to find the money to pay its pastors and necessary expenses. On top of the monthly bills, their church van is 27 years old and is in need of a major repair that is estimated to cost around $1500, nearly doubling their monthly expenses.

“Please help us in whatever possible way for some time,” Sathees implores. “We hope and pray that things will get better soon.”

While many of us in the states have adapted to our new way of life with the help of Zoom, Skype, and vaccines, the believers in Sri Lanka are in the midst of a health, economic, and spiritual crisis. Please take a few moments to join us in prayer as we ask God for his protection, his provision, and most of all his kingdom to come to our fellow brothers and sisters in Sri Lanka.

If you feel so moved, we urge you to consider donating financially to this group of believers as they navigate these difficult times. You can give securely online here, or mail a check to: TRC Ministries PO Box 1196 Alexandria, MN 56308-1196 and include “Sri Lanka” in the memo.

Thank you for your generosity. May God bless you!

TRC Ministries is partnering with multiple pastors in Sri Lanka in order to bring the bible to these people in their own language through our audio bible ministry. We also see God raising up Christians who are dedicated to bringing the gospel message to their own people. We are working to train them to bring the gospel message and plant churches in their own country.
