Seeking God in the New Year

The following is a letter from Oti Salvador, director of La Cosecha. Special thanks to Jean Schonberg, who translated it from Spanish to English.

Dear brothers and sisters.

We rejoice with you at the beginning of a new year, under the grace of God and walking in His Word. To begin this year, “La Cosecha” as a church has made the resolution to seek, in first place and above all else, the presence of God. Psalm 73:25-26 says, “Whom have I in heaven but you?  And earth has nothing I desire besides you. My flesh and my heart may fail but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.”

This is the greatest expression and the highest action of a true Christian: the Christian worshiping his Lord. As a ministry and as children of God we have gone through very hard trials and all kinds of difficult situations. These have shown us that our God is faithful and that we have no one else outside of Him who can help us in our lives. Also these verses tell us that this man (the Psalmist) confirmed that the world’s pleasures and solutions are ephemeras. They are transitory and even their joys are very short-lived and don’t satisfy the heart of man as he desires. Brothers, only in Christ do we find the joy, the hope and the power to overcome this world and arrive at the goal.

Because of this we have decided that this year will be a year of intense seeking the presence of God, of God Himself, of His person. We want to have the heart of the servant mentioned in Psalm 42:1-2. “As the deer pants for streams of water so my soul pants for you, O God. My soul thirsts for God, for the living God.”

Only in Christ do we find the joy, the hope and the power to overcome this world and arrive at the goal.

May this year of 2022 be for you and for us a year of a powerful encounter with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To be face to face with Him, worshiping Him in spirit and in truth.

God bless you brothers, we thank you for all your support and prayers.
